Utility-Scale Renewable Energy

Thinking at scale.
Grounded in evaluation.

Renewable energy is an expanding area of Brightstar’s activities, bringing our experience in international trade, commercial analysis and project development to the energy sector.

Thailand / Proposed solar project

Local leadership.
International support.

Brightstar is working with long-standing partners in Thailand on the research and evaluation of a proposed large-scale solar energy project.

Our partners lead the project locally. Brightstar provides research, analysis and international commercial support as the opportunity develops.

Current work includes evaluating technologies and project solutions, researching potential suppliers and equipment, and assessing commercial considerations. Battery storage and associated infrastructure form part of that evaluation.

Current stage: research and evaluation.
Procurement and implementation support are anticipated as the project progresses, alongside specialist technical providers.

Distributed & Industrial Energy

Closer to consumption.
Focused on practicality.

Exploring ways for businesses, industry and communities to generate, store and manage electricity closer to where it is used.

Commercial &
industrial solar

Evaluating photovoltaic generation opportunities in the context of business and industrial requirements.

Battery energy
storage

Considering storage alongside generation, energy use and the commercial requirements of a project.

Integrated
power systems

Researching technologies and combinations of systems that may improve reliability, access and economics.

Practical experience.
Commercial discipline.

With our partners in Thailand, Brightstar previously participated in and helped fund a multi-year renewable-energy research and development project.

The technology did not demonstrate the commercial viability required to reach market. The work nevertheless provided practical experience in technology evaluation, prototype development and testing — and reinforced the importance of assessing commercial viability alongside technical performance.
